Sustainability

Our Sustainability Framework

Since Tom Owen and Son opened in 1930, we have always believed in the importance of having a positive impact on our community. Whether that be the people we support, our team, the local community or the world we live in. Tom Owen and Son believe that a commitment to the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) not only makes good business sense but also complements our values as a business.

In order to understand, manage and plan to reduce our environmental impact, we have developed an Environmental Policy that sets out our key objectives and actions for us to support local and global reductions in carbon emissions and to make best use of limited natural resources in a responsible way.

Our policy is based on the following principles:

  • To minimise the impact and maximise the benefits that our work has on the environment and people around us;
  • To integrate our CSR considerations into all our business decisions;
  • To comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice; and
  • To review and continually strive to improve our CSR performance.

We aim to deliver gradual but continuous improvements in our performance every year. As a result, our approach continues to evolve as we learn lessons along the way. To help define our policy we have divided our approach to sustainability into three key areas: Environment, Social and Governance.

These elements are brought to life within our framework and enable us to focus on activities that deliver the greatest value to our colleagues, our clients and the world that we live in.
