Cremation Services

Did you know that 77% of all funerals in the UK (according to the Cremation Society) are cremations?

Read through our funeral service guides here to see what options are available.

What paperwork is required for a cremation?

Our team of award-winning funeral directors are on hand to assist you with the completion of all necessary paperwork for a cremation to proceed. The two main documents needed are the Cremation Certificate and the Cremation Application.

The Cremation Certificate, which is also known as the green form, is obtained from the Registrar when you register the death of your loved one.

We can prepare the Cremation Application on your behalf, which authorises the process. This consists of a blue and a yellow form.

In addition, the Crematorium will require two medical certificates. The first of these will be the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death, which is signed by the doctor who has viewed the deceased and determined the cause of death. We can assist you in obtaining this from the doctor and ensure the Registrar has received their paperwork from the doctor to allow you to register the death. The second will be signed by an independent doctor once all the paperwork has been sent to the Crematoria.

What happens at the Crematorium?

The hearse, or other suitable vehicle, will take the coffin to the crematorium. Family and friends may have followed the hearse on its final journey or met at the Crematorium. Pallbearers or family members will take the coffin into the chapel, ahead of the start of the service. The coffin is placed onto a raised platform known as a catafalque.

It is also possible to hold a service at a separate venue before heading to the Crematorium for the committal.

The coffin, along with any flowers, will remain on the catafalque throughout the service. The end of the service is known as the committal and is marked by the coffin being lowered or the curtain closing. You can choose to have music played to accompany this or a blessing/poem read out. Alternatively, if you prefer the coffin to remain in view that can also be arranged by our team.

One of our Funeral Directors will then lead you out of the chapel, usually to a favourite piece of music. The flowers are then placed outside by us, and you are welcome to take these home with you.

How long is a Cremation service?

Service length at the Crematoria across North Wales can vary, however it is usually a 45 minute slot. This allows time for people to enter and exit the chapel and pay their final respects to the deceased,.

Most crematoria have the option to live stream the service for those family and friends that cannot attend in person.

What is a direct cremation?

Direct cremation provides an affordable alternative to a full service funeral, without compromising our quality of care. A direct cremation offers a contemporary choice for those that do not wish to have a full funeral service for a variety of reasons. These may include cost or avoiding elements that are deemed unnecessary, such as a minister, limousine, bearers, flowers and service sheets. You may choose to hold a separate memorial service or celebration of life at a later date with a direct cremation.
