This month sees the end of an illustrious career spanning an incredible five decades for Scott Owen. Scott, the heart and soul of Tom Owen and Son Funeral Directors, will fully retire this year after 50 years of exemplary service as a funeral director based in Llandudno.

For four generations, Tom Owen and Son has set the highest standards of service and innovation within the Funeral industry. Since its humble beginnings in 1930, this family-run business has been a cornerstone of support and solace for countless families during their most trying times.

Scott Owen's journey is not just a testament to his own resilience and work ethic, but also a continuation of a legacy built by his forefathers. As the third generation of the Owen family to join the business, Scott followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Tom, and his father, Peter, embodying the values of integrity, empathy, and commitment instilled in him from a young age. For many years he has served the local community with compassion, dignity, and kindness.

Throughout his tenure, Scott's impact extended beyond the boundaries of his profession. Perhaps what truly sets Scott apart was his willingness to embrace innovation and adapt to change. From handling on-screen funerals for Coronation Street stars to overseeing modernisations within the company, Scott's forward-thinking approach has ensured that Tom Owen and Son remains at the forefront of the industry.

Scott's pride in the continuation of the family legacy is evident as the business remains in the capable hands of his son, Tristan, and Tristan’s wife Kelly, the fourth generation of the Owen family to head the company. Scott says “I have nothing but admiration and pride for Tristan and Kelly. They joined the business at an incredibly difficult time for everyone, with pandemic restrictions in place, and how they've begun to move the business forward while preserving its core values and traditions makes me very proud. They genuinely care about their community and setting up the 'Coffee Connection' bereavement support group has been a lifeline for the attendees. I can safely hang up my black suit, knowing that the family business is in extremely good hands”.

As Scott embarks on a new chapter of his life, we wish him a retirement filled with joy, fulfilment, and the same unwavering compassion that has defined his career. Thank you, Scott, for 50 years of service, and may your legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
