What have we been doing in our local community this month?

Tom Owen and Son Funeral Director are proud to be part of the North Wales community. As a funeral director based in Llandudno and the surrounding areas of Colwyn Bay and Conwy, we are dedicated to supporting our local community in a variety of ways, here is what we have been up to in December 2023.

Getting involved in the local communities of Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and Conwy or attending charity events is a key part of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme at Tom Owen and Son. We believe being an integral part of our community is incredibly important to us as a business to allow us to give back.

Grief Awareness Week

From 2-8 December 2023, Grief Awareness Week takes place and this year's theme was Better Together. On Thursday 7 December, Tristan and Kelly attended Llandudno Library to promote the bereavement coffee mornings in Llandudno and Colwyn Bay.

Tree of Lights : St David's Hospice

On Sunday 10th December, some of the team attended the St David's Hospice Tree of Lights switch on in Llandudno. In remembrance of all those that are no longer with us, there was a service of Remembrance prior to the light switch on. It was a beautiful service, despite the torrential rain and wind, with two singers, readings and mulled wine afterwards.

Christmas Tree Festival : Llandudno

From 11th-16th December 2023, Tom Owen and Son had the In Memory Tree displayed at the Christmas Tree Festival at St John's Methodist Church in Llandudno. Those attending were encouraged to add a decoration in memory of someone that they have lost, to remember them. In the three years the tree has been on display, we have never seen so many decorations on the tree. It really goes to show how it important it is to be able to give people the space to remember those close to them. Any donations received from the event have gone to St David's Hospice.

Team Christmas Night out

We are incredibly grateful to have a wonderful team supporting Tom Owen and Son. We couldn't shine without their help, so on Friday 15th December 2023, we all donned our best outfits and headed out to the Gwesty Links Hotel for a Christmas meal. We had a wonderful night, laughing, sharing stories and a good vibe. It's important to reward the team for working hard and this is one of the many ways we do so.

Rotary Snowman Collection

On Saturday 16th December 2023, Tristan Owen got dressed up as a snowman in aid of Hope Restored by collecting money from Christmas shoppers in Llandudno. It's an annual event and he had fun meeting locals while doing something for a good cause.
